Armstrong is a great place to live, work, and raise a family. The town offers a variety of amenities and services, and is close to nature and recreation. Armstrong is well known for agriculture, with lots of poultry and dairy farms near by. The town was first settled by immigrants who brought different, grains, vegetables and fruit with them. In the very early 1900's was the first table top show. Farmers would gather to show which grains and produce grew best in the area. The following year, farmers in the area would shift their crops to match that of the superior growers. The success of this yearly fair made life easier for for the settlers. Eventually a part of land was donated by the Armstrong Spallumcheen Agricultural Society, providing them more space to also bring cattle and other live stock into the fair. Now over 100 years later and now called the Interior Provincial Exhibition, it is one of the biggest livestock, rodeo, fair and carnival events in the province, spanning over four days. Armstrong Cheese is well known through out Canada and parts of the United States. Just like it's name would lead you to believe, it is made right in Armstrong!! Or it was. Unfortunately in 2004 it was purchased by Dairy World, shortly after laying off 73 employees. The Village Cheese Company is still a busy tourist attraction where visitor can learn how to make cheese and the highly saught after "squeaky Cheese"
