Bowen Island is a small municipality located in Metro Vancouver, British Columbia. It has a population of 4256 and an area of 50.12 km². After colonization, homesteaders started to build homes and established a brick factory, which supplied bricks to to the expanding city of Vancouver. Nowadays the island is a popular tourist destination due to its natural beauty, as well as its proximity to Vancouver. Visitors can enjoy hiking, biking, and kayaking, and golfing, as well as exploring the many shops and restaurants in the town centre. Brining in over 1,500 tourists per summer, most people come to Bowen Island for relaxation and nature, away from the city. The island is home to two local Cider Houses, and a distillery.
