About

Chase is a municipality in the Thompson-Nicola Regional District of British Columbia with a population of 2399. The municipality covers an area of 3.75 km² and is located in the province of British Columbia. The town was named after Whitfield Chase, an American from New York State. He originally came to Canada for the Gold Rush but ended up settling in the Chase area around 1865. A logging company started developing the area in 1907, dividing lots, installing water and electricity. The Adams River Lumber Company was formed in 1907, and was considered the largest in interior BC and the third largest in the province. The mill employed over 300 men during its peak seasons. After 1969 Chase became a destination people would want to discover because of it's close proximity to Shuswap Lake and hundreds of smaller mountain lakes in the area. Currently you can find Golf Courses, mountain biking, hiking and even a zipline in town. Forestry, agriculture, tourism and even film production all account for Chases economic growth.
