Coldstream

Nestled in the picturesque North Okanagan region of British Columbia, the municipality of Coldstream is truly a nature-lover's paradise. With a population of just over 11,000 people, Coldstream offers a friendly and welcoming small community feel while, still providing all the necessary amenities and services. At 66.57 square kilometers, the municipality is also the perfect size for exploring everything the great outdoors has to offer. One of it's most well-known piece of history is the Coldstream Ranch, established in 1863 by Captain Charles Frederick Houghton. Shortly after Captain Charles Fredrick traded the land to the Vernon brothers for a piece of property in Okanagan Landing. Finally, the land was sold to Lord and Lady Aberdeen in 1891 and they named it the Coldstream Ranch. They caught wind of the fruit growing that was taking off in the Okanagan and decided to get in on the action. This marked the beginning of commercial fruit growing. Still to this day, the area remains a top fruit producing region in Western Canada. Coldstream is a short 10 minute drive from the city of Vernon. If you're stopping through in the summer, make sure to have a play at Kal Beach. A perfect sandy beach with shallow waters that provides kids and adults with fun summer memories! When hungry, stop by Alexander's Beach cafe for some refreshments and great pub food. Silver Star Resort is a short 45 minute drive away. In the winter enjoy their skiing and in the summer the resort opens for hiking and downhill biking. Being in Coldstream, you will be emerged in all the best the North Okanagan has to offer. From hiking and camping to fishing and swimming, there's something for everyone to enjoy in Coldstream.
