Coquitlam is a municipality in the Metro Vancouver region of British Columbia. It has a population of 148,625 and an area of 122.15 km². This bustling city has expanded rapidly since it's 1860s settlement. It started as an in between with the construction of North Road in the mid 19th century, giving year round port access. It now is a booming city with high-rise buildings, huge sports complexes, beautiful performing art centres, mixed with greenspace and nature all around. Couitlam has mountain biking trails for all ages and abilities. Ranging from steep technical trails to fun bike parks for kids to gain their confidence on. Take a hike through the cities giant old growth cedars, with seven designated parks within the municipality. Unsure about which routes to hike or looking for a hiking partner? Join one of the cities hiking and running groups! Take a swing on one of the five golf courses in Coquitlam. All with mountain and nature views. Coquitlam is home to lots of wildlife even though it is a large city, and they encourage their residences to maintain the cleanliness and diversity the nature already provides.
