Cumberland

Cumberland is a beautiful municipality located in the Comox Valley region of British Columbia. With a population of 4447 and an area of 29,.04 Km², Cumberland is the perfect place to live, work, and raise a family. The natural resource of exporting coal was long known in this region, first discovered by the aboriginal peoples of the territory. Coal was such a huge presence they originally named the town Union, after the Union coal Company. In the recent years Cumberland has became a hot spot for recreation and tourism. As a sister community to Kourtney, Cumberland is a great top along your travels. Mountain biking is huge in the area because of the relatively long season. A climbing wall is featured in the center of the town and drop ins are welcomed. How fun?! They also offer lessons to people wanting to learn to climb or to belay. The municipality offers a variety of amenities and services, including a library, a recreation center, and a variety of parks and trails. Cumberland is also home to a number of businesses and organizations, making it the perfect place to call home.
