Fruitvale

Fruitvale is a municipality in the Kootenay Boundary region of British Columbia. It has a population of 1958 and an area of 2.7 km². Fruitvale is a great place to live, work, and raise a family. There are plenty of opportunities for outdoor recreation, and the community is very welcoming. Despite it's name, Fruitvale is not a great climate for growing fruit. The name came up in 1907 when promoting a new subdivision of the then called, Beaver Siding. It was one of eight stations on the Nelson and Fort Sheppard Railway. This cute little bedroom community has one elementary school and kids in high school are bussed to Trail (it's just up the street). Fruitvale has a curling club, soccer fields, golf course and baseball diamond. In less than 30 mins drive from Fruitvale you can hit the slopes are Red Mountain Resort, known as one of the greatest in the Kootnenays. In under an hour you can get to Whitewater Ski Resort for a day of skiing or snowboarding in the groovy town of Nelson. Fruitvale has beautiful provincial and privately owned camp grounds surrounding the town. Choose from full Hook-up RV to a tent site on a Champion Lakes, everyone will be comfortable in their own camping styles.
