Hazelton is a municipality located within the Kitimat-Stikine Regional District in British Columbia. With a population of just 257, and the municipality has a total area of 2.89 square kilometers. Hazelton is one of the oldest settlement in northern British Columbia. Hazleton was one of original gateway and staging areas for the Omineca Gold Rush. An iconic landmark of Hazleton is the presences of a well-built strong paddlewheel riverboat. Paddlewheel riverboats were used for only used for two decades but it shaped the identify of Hazleton forever. Having the only proper hospital for its time, Hazleton was a busy place. Today its residences enjoy a slow paced lifestyle on the banks of the Bulkley River. Behind the Upper Skeena Recreation Centre are the newly built mountain bike trails. 11 trails, ranging from green to black, provides fun and exercise for all willing to give it a go.
