Montrose

Nestled in the Kootenay Boundary region of British Columbia, Montrose is a charming municipality with a population of 1013. The scenic area boasts a beautiful landscape, with 1.46 Km² of space to explore. Whether you're looking for outdoor adventure or a peaceful escape, Montrose is the perfect destination. The town is a bedroom community to Trail BC and very close to the United States Boarder. A grocery store was established in town in 1947, a three-room elementary school in 1952 and when a neighboring town lost their post office, the following year Montrose gained one. Besides a couple small stores and a gas station, most people who live in Montrose work in Trail, 11kms down the road. Located within the town is a community hall, multi-use sport park, and a playground. The town comes together to celebrate fun holidays like an Easter Egg hunt, family day event, and a Halloween Bonfire with hotdogs and hot chocolate. Today the town has a kindergarten to grade seven elementary school and a full high school for students grade 9 to grade twelve. Montrose is known for the "Antenna Trail", a four kilometer loop where you gain 250 meters of elevation above the village. Enjoy the view of the Beaver and Columbia Valleys. Being so close to Trail there are many oppurtunities for outdoor recreation like mountain biking, rock climbing, camping and hiking. Enjoy the scenic route through Montrose.
