New Denver is a beautiful municipality located in the Central Kootenay region of British Columbia. With a population of 487, it's the perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The area is 0.87 km² and is filled with stunning scenery. Like lots of Kootenay towns, New Denver was a service center for the early mining towns nearby and also a stop on the Nakusp and Slocan Railway. Today it is a cute little town with lots to offer it's residences. Centennial Park is a a fun place to beat the heat by swimming in the lake, play beach volleyball, climb on the children's playground, take shelter from the sun under the gazebo; all around having a great family time. The Kohan Reflection Garden is a Japanese-style garden that was established in 1989 and provides a peaceful place to relax, read a book, meditate and just take a step back from the business of life. Hike to Wilson Creek Falls on a short 3.3Km out and back, well maintained trail. This is a very short hike to see a very large waterfall. Try out Peak Shuttles - an Alpine shuttle service that gets you to the top of the trail faster! An old BMO bank has been a focal point of the community for over 100 years and now serves as the town's museum- Admission by donation. Like many small towns in British Columbia, New Denver is no stranger to encountering wild life in and around the community. New Denver officially became a BearSmart community in 2015. The town takes many practical steps to keep the wildlife wild and the community safe.
