Situated on Vancouver Island just north of Victoria, North Saanich is a rural municipality with a population of just over 12,000. With a total area of 37 square kilometers, North Saanich is mostly made up of farmland and parks, making it a beautiful and peaceful place to call home. Originally, North Saaninch included the town of Sidney, however even between both areas there was not enough residents or tax dollars to make it a viable community and it dissolved in 1911. After a family Military Base was established at the present site of the Victoria International Airport, the area boomed with over 10,000 new residents. North Saanich exists on the traditional territories of the WSANEC people and the municipality is committed to respectfully, living and working with the nation. Being surrounded by lots of farmland, agriculture continues to be a big economic driver along with tourism. Book a guided tour of the ocean, enjoy one of the many municipal parks, learn to sail, enjoy a float plane tour and indulge in local eats. Close to both urban and nature amenities, North Saanich is the perfect place for those who want the best of both worlds.
