Oliver

The municipality of Oliver is located in the Okanagan-Similkameen region of British Columbia. The municipality has a population of 5094 and an area of 5.49 Km². The area first saw European settlers around 1811 when fur traders came to the area. The late 1800s saw gold mining and merchants and the first public transportation system. Today Oliver is known as Canada's Wine Capital with 50% of all wines grapes in BC are grown here. Small family estates to large wineries, Oliver has a plethora of wineries to visit. Book a guided tour of different wineries, equipped with your own driver for the day, visit them by bike - however you want to go about it. Wine tours make for great friend trips, celebrations or corporate events. Oliver hosts the fun and hilarious Half Corked Marathon every September. A race all about having fun! Enjoy the stunning scenery of the Fairview Mountain Golf Course, or paddle in Vaseux Lake, fish at Tuc-el-nuit Lake hike and bike all around the city! Many restaurants, bakeries, pizza places and family restaurants provide the residents and tourists with lots of food options. South Okanagan General Hospital serves the community a level 1 community hospital withy 24/7 emergency care. A doctor office and a few old age homes round out the towns Health Care.
