About

Nestled between the mountains and the sea, Port Edward is a beautiful municipality in British Columbia. With a population of just 470, it's the perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. The town was once supported by fishing and the many canneries in the area, focusing on food preservation. Today residences and tourists can still visit the North Pacific Cannery, a national heritage site and living museum. Main economic drivers in Port Edward are transportation and construction, along with tourism. This rugged coastal town (only 50 miles to the Alaskan boarder), provides moorage for over 2000 water crafts annually. Here, you can see foreshore houses on stilts, community parks, a community centre, skateboard park, and community Gazebo. Stay in a quaint bed and breakfast or one of the local motels. Take a hike up the Skip Mountain Trail, Mount McLean Trail, or Arrowhead Lake Trail for stunning views of the ocean and beautiful scenery. The area is also great for hiking, camping, and fishing, and there are plenty of opportunities to spot wildlife.
