Today the main industry sector is provided by a deep-sea bulk loading terminal, two petrochemical distribution operations, a large wood products manufacturer and a thermal electric generating station. The town has shifted in recent years to focus more on the arts and culture sector. The city hosts many festivals and events annually showcasing local artists and musicians. Port Moody is conveniently located on the Burrard Inlet, which is a great sport for many boating activities like kayaking, sailing, and paddle boarding.
