Pouce Coupe

Pouce Coupe is a quaint municipality located in the Peace River regional district of British Columbia. With a population of just 762, it's the perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. The municipality covers an area of 2.06 square kilometers and is home to a variety of businesses and amenities. For years there has been great debate where the name Peace Coupe originated. Many will say it comes from an aboriginal chief of the area named 'Poosecapee'. Others will say Pouce Coupe means "cut thumb" and that comes from a Sekani trapper named Pounce Coupe because he lost his thumb in an accident. Who knows, we definitely do not. But we do know Pouce Coupe is a beautiful northern BC community. Close to the Alberta boarder and only 10 km from Dawson Creek, Pouce Coupe has a vast array of untouched wilderness. Fishing, camping, snowmobiling are all favourite hobbies. Check out the old wooden train trestle bridge, it is walkable but be careful! This old bridge is a true piece of history.
