Prince George has 40 public Elementary schools eight secondary schools and eight private schools. Along with the well known University of Northern British Columbia, Prince George is well known for its education programs and dedication. The climate is cold and temperate with a significant amount of rainfall. Locals make good use of the cold weather in the winter with six outdoor public ice arenas. A huge aquatic centre, complete with two 25-metre pools, a lazy river, waterslide and hot tubs is a very appreciated amenity in town. Prince George has over 106 kilometres of trails for hiking, running, walking and biking.
