Revelstoke

Revelstoke is a municipality in the Columbia Shuswap regional district of British Columbia. The population is 8275 and the area is 41.28 km². The municipality is located in the Selkirk Mountains on the Columbia River. Revelstoke is a popular destination for outdoor activities such as skiing, hiking, and mountain biking. Revelstoke was a town founded by the railway and blue collar work. Just west of Revelstoke, is the location of the last spike driven into the ground to complete the Canadian Pacific Railway track, connecting the country from coast to coast in 1885. CPR and mining was the base of the economy for Revelstoke, today CPR still plays a bill roll in the community. Forestry, construction and tourism also play a huge role in supporting this great town. Revelstoke experiences record volume snowfalls, mixed with the Selkirk Mountain Ranges, makes this a skiers ideal destination. Since the establishment of Revelstoke Mountain Ski Resort( a world-class resort bosting the most vertical feet in North America) was established, the town has taken on more tourism than ever before. Revelstoke is home to four heli-skiing operations and two cat-skiing operations, with numerous backcountry lodges in the area where skiers earn their turns and experience complete solitude. Close to town is the entrance to Mount Revelstoke National Park. A 260 square-kilometre park that blends compelling history and trails for beginners to experienced hikers. Book a spot in one of the front country or backcountry campsites. Down town Revelstoke is a trendy, vibrant community with artisan cafes, fun pubs, and delicious dining.
