Salmon Arm is located on the shores of Shuswap Lake in the Columbia-Shuswap Region of British Columbia. The municipality has a population of 19432 and an area of 155.19 km². Salmon Arm is a popular tourist destination in the summer months due to its location on the lake and its proximity to the city of Vancouver. Salmon Arm is located within the traditional territory of the Secwepmc people. By 1904 Salmon Arm had grown the reputation of having an excellent fruit harvest. The local businesses thrived on growing fruit and exporting the goods to larger cities. Salmon Arm is on the shores of the Shuswap Lake, where the Salmon River empties into the salmon Arm section of the lake. The Trans-Canada Hwy runs right through Salmon Arm making it a popular stop for travellers to stop and stretch their legs. Also only a short drive to larger cities like Kamloops and Kelowna. Salmon Arm is home to the largest wooden wharf in North America. A city that thrives on making it a lifestyle community.
