Slocan

Slocan is a beautiful municipality located in the Central Kootenay region of British Columbia. With a population of 379, Slocan is a great place to call home. The area is rich in history and culture, and the people are friendly and welcoming. Early mining settlements set the foundation for workers and the town. Many mines shut down after the great depression, however, small mining remained more stable becasue of the richness of the ores found in the ground. At the time of incorporation, the population of Slocan was around 1,500. Today people visit the Slocan Valley for a number of reasons, most of them being outdoor recreation. Slocan is home to many popular hikes and parks like the Valhalla Provincial Park which is 50 hectares in size and holds many backcountry adventures. Or Paradise Valley Lodge on Slocan Lake where you can water ski, tube, play and relax. Slocan is the perfect place to raise a family or retire. The municipality offers a variety of amenities and activities to keep residents busy, including a library, a swimming pool, and a recreation centre. There is also a variety of parks and trails to explore. Slocan is a great place to live, work, and play.
