Sooke is a municipality located in the Capital Regional District on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. With a population of just over 15,000 people, Sooke is a small town with a big heart. Nature lovers will feel right at home in Sooke, with its many parks and trails and its beautiful coastline. Sooke is also home to many artists and artisans, making it the perfect place to find a one-of-a-kind souvenir. Sooke is a popular destination where hikers start the famous Juan de Fuca Trail. A 4-5 day trek along the coastline of Vancouver Island. Or the even more challenging West Coast Trail. Sooke is famous for its beaches just on the outskirt of the community, located on the Shirly and Jordan River. Mountain biking is becoming a popular activity on the island and is drawing visitors in from all over the province. Sooke has a vibrant artist community with different art fairs and exhibits throughout the year along with local musician showcasing their talent. Sooke has four Elementary schools ( including one French), one middle school and one high school. All part of School District 62. The community has many local one-of-a-kind restaurants. Bakeries, seafood specialities, pubs and fine dining. Spend a fun afternoon exploring the local shops plus the breweries and distilleries. Sooke has a very desirable climate year round. warm summers and mild to wet winters. This could be a retirement destination or if you're looking to take a slower approach to life, Sooke is the place to be!
