Sun Peaks is a municipality in the Thompson-Nicola Regional District of British Columbia. The population is 616 and the area is 40.86 km². The municipality is located in the mountainous Interior of the province, just 55 kilometres outside of Kamloops and is a popular destination for skiing and other outdoor activities. The municipality is relatively new with 1405 full time residents and the village sees an influx of over 250,000 visitors in the winter. Permanent residents of Sun Peaks benefit from having many amenities available on the mountain. Sun Peaks School was started in 2010 offering a balanced education for grades Kindergraten - Grade 7. Two years later, School district 73 joined forces with the little school to bring it under their umbrella. Today the school has 125 students and offers distance education for grades 10-12. Sun Peaks has a community garden, Rotary Club, Art Zone, scouts camp, ski race and free style team and skating rink. When fully operational, Sun Peaks Daycare will have space for 45 children. adding to the amenities of the village. Summer months have just as much to offer as in winter. Take in the Alpine hiking, downhill biking, and the Sun peaks Golf Course. Sun Peaks is a wonderful place to live with many outdoor recreation activities at your fingertips, all while being close to Kamloops for easy convivence. Enjoy the mountain lifestyle!
