Welcome to Tahsis, British Columbia! Our small municipality is located on the west coast of Vancouver Island and is home to just over 400 residents. We are part of the Strathcona Regional District and are proud to be a part of British Columbia. Our municipality is 5.26 square kilometers and is a beautiful place to call home. We are surrounded by mountains, forests, and the sea and offer a variety of outdoor activities for residents and visitors to enjoy. We invite you to come and experience all that Tahsis has to offer! In the early 1900s,Tahsis's economy heavily relied on forestry but after the sawmill shut down, the town has relied more on tourism and and commercial fishing operations. Until 1972 when the Head Bay Road reached Tahsis, the town was only accessible via boat or air. Surfers are attracted by the wild Pacific waves of Nootka Island and Brooks Peninsula. This is an area that produces waters similar in temperature to those of Northern California. Hikers will appreciate the quiet trails and dramatic views of this rugged coastal town. Tahsis is known as the "Caving Capital of Canada", due to its vast networks of caves imbedded in nearby hills. These caves attract caving clubs from all over the world. Scuba diving and snorkeling in Tahsis is the best in the province because of vibrant coral, the deep narrows and all the oceanic life that calls this magical place home. Do you work remotely?
