Tofino

Tofino is a municipality located in the Alberni-Clayoquot Regional District of British Columbia. With a population of 2516, it is a great place to live, work, and raise a family. This costal village has a total area of 10.56 km². Tofino officially got its name in 1909 when the first post office opened in town. Named after the Tofino Inlet. Tofino is a diverse community determined to protect awe-inspiring natural and cultural environments. The small western coastal town is a popular tourism destination. It's long sandy beaches, surf-able waves, acres of rainforest, wild life, small shops and has the best vibes you could ask for. The most popular beaches are Mackenzie Beach, Chesterman Beach, Cox Bay Beach, and Tonquin Beach. In all areas of Tofino you will sense the wild and natural atmosphere. From the beaches to the parks to the trails. Popular hikes include, Ahousaht Wildside Trail, where you follow a trail that has been used for hundreds of years by the aboriginal people of Tofino. Or maybe try the Hot Spring Cove Trail, where the trail is rugged , the area is remote and the springs are hot! Other popular activities include kayaking, paddle boarding, beachcombing, fishing, storm watching, whale watching, golfing and much more. Tofino is a pedal-friendly town and when you arrive you'll see residents cycling to and from work, surfers heading to catch a wave and families heading to the beach. In 2022 Tofino became the first municipality in British Columbia to ban single-use plastics.
