Welcome to Tumbler Ridge, a municipality located in the Peace River Regional District of British Columbia. Our community has a population of 2399 people and is situated on 1.0 square kilometers of land. Human existence dates back 3000 years by the Sekani, Dunneza and the Cree people. In the mid 1950s logging, oil and natural gas exploration was conducted through the area. The town was known for a long time as a coal mining town. Up until 2016 when the last coal mine shut down. Today the town has achieved a lot of success in the wind power, forestry and tourism sectors. Tumbler Ridge has a lot to offer the outdoor enthusiast. Popular activities include, waterfall hunting, hiking, fishing, caving and much more. Tumbler Ridge is home to one of only five global geoparks in Canada. A Global Geopark is a recognised area of the land having internationally significant geological heritage. Fun Fact: in the year 2000, dinosaur trackways were discovered and in 2022, dinosaur fossils were found in the areas around Tumbler Ridge. You can see them at the Tumbler Ridge Museum Foundation. Tumbler Ridge is the destination of choice for snowmobiling in the Peace River Region. The deep-snow pack and long winter season makes it a great place for outdoor recreation in the winter.
