Wells is a charming municipality in the Cariboo region of British Columbia. With a population of just 218 people, it's the perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Nestled among the mountains, Wells is surrounded by stunning natural scenery. There are plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy in the area, including hiking, biking, and fishing. Originally Wells was a community built for Gold Quartz Mine in 1930. Between the 30s and 40s Wells was a booming town servicing a lot of Northern BC. There was a Community Hall, hockey teams, golf course, ski hill and much more. When the two mines shut down in the 40s, the town began to dwindle in size. Many unique buildings have been preserved and restored to show patronage from the early days. Wells is known as an adventure hub for the Cariboo Region District. Here you can start your epic canoeing adventure through the Bowron Chain of Lakes, a 6-10 day circuit. You must pre-register and book your spot. Weather you enjoy a casual stroll or alpine adventure, Wells has it all. If you're feeling super adventurous, The town has a skating rink, baseball diamonds, multiple playgrounds, community garden, community facility centre and much more.
