West Kelowna

The municipality of West Kelowna is located in the Central Okanagan region of British Columbia. The population of West Kelowna is 36078 and the area is 122.09 Km². The incorporation of West Kelowna happened in 2007 when the municipality voted to have West Kelowna incorporated into their own municipality instead of amalgamating with the city of Kelowna. West Kelowna has a diverse economy with lots of different opportunities to be in an employment sector you desire. Agriculture, construction, finance, industry, lumber manufacturing, food and retail services and tourism are the main industry sectors. West Kelowna has nine public elementary schools, two middle schools and one high school serving the community. There are many parks, beaches and boat launches along with lots of green space. West Kelowna has two of their own ice arenas, an aquatic centre, multi-sport centre, community halls, museum, golf course and much more. Residents enjoy being close to Big White Ski Resort, as well as the Telemark Nordic ski centre. Because of West Kelowna being in a rain shadow, the area receives a small amount of rain annually, combined with warm weather and long hours of sunlight, makes the Okanagan Valley one of the greatest wine producing areas of British Columbia. Great restaurants and shops, community events, art galleries and cultural days make West Kelowna feel like home. West Kelowna is a great place to live, work and play.
