The municipality of Sidney is located in the Capital Regional District on Vancouver Island in British Columbia. With a population of over 12,000, Sidney is a vibrant community with a variety of shops, restaurants, parks, and amenities. Covering an area of 5.11 square kilometers, Sidney is a great place to live, work, and play. Home to the Wsanec and Sencten First Nations, Sidney has deep history as winter camps for the aboriginal. The Salish Sea was and is very important to their way of life and the town of Sidney celebrates that. Sidney was incorporated has a village on September 30th, 1952 and the town has been growing ever since. many an industrial town, many residents work in the construction, manufacturing and warehousing fields. Beaches, trails, green spaces and outdoor recreation isn't just a hobby but more of a way of life for Sidney's residents. Town has a 2.5 Kilometre boardwalk that is flat and accessible for all people. Take a stroll on the Seaside Sculpture Walk, a stretch of waterfront from Beacon Park down to Sidney International Ferry Terminal that showcases outdoor art. Many of these pieces were commissioned for the town. Sidney has all the amenities out of a city you could hope for. Two community centres, Art Academy and a Seniors Activity Centre. The town takes part in many programs and initiatives that support living a green, sustainable life cycle. Sidney can be your vacation place, retirement destination or a wonderful community to raise a family.
